Ingredient Library: Rosehip Oil Benefits for Skin

Recommended by dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, and beauty experts  alike, rosehip oil has more than earned its popularity. It moisturizes, helps minimize the appearance of wrinkles, and evens out skin tone. Plus, it's suitable for the most sensitive types. No wonder it's a holy grail skincare ingredient!

What Is Rosehip Oil?

This ingredient is derived by pressing the seeds of Rosa Canina, a wild rose also known as Dog Rose. Now, rosehip oil is not the same as rose oil, a fragrant essential oil extracted from the rose flowers. These ingredients couldn't be more different! Similar to many plant-derived ingredients, rosehip oil consists of fatty acids, phytosterols, tocopherols, and trace amounts of tretinoin—a derivative of vitamin A.

The extraction method directly impacts the bioactive content, so be sure you're choosing the unrefined, cold-pressed oil from a reputable source to get the most effective dose. Cold-pressed here is especially important as antioxidants can degrade easily when heated during the formulation. BLUNT SKINCARES's Isolate Pure CBD Balancing Face Oil contains cold-pressed rosehip oil, of course!

The Skin Benefits of Rosehip Oil

There are so many skincare benefits to rosehip oil, we made a handy list. Of course, there's the moisturizing emollient properties that leave skin feeling soft and smooth. But these additional perks will make you want to keep it in your daily skincare routine.

  1. It contains retinoic acid: The vitamin A derivative boosts the skin renewal without irritating side effects.
  2. It's perfect for acne-prone skin: Rosehip has a low comedogenicity rating so it won't clog your pores. It's also anti-inflammatory and can help with post-acne scarring
  3. It protects the skin: Antioxidant-rich Rosehip oil protects the skin against free radicals and environmental stressors.

How to Add Rosehip Oil to Your Routine

To get the biggest bang for your buck, we recommend reaching for a leave-on product infused with rosehip oil. These include facial oils, serums, and moisturizers, as opposed to rinse-off cleansers. BLUNT SKINCARE's Isolate Pure CBD Balancing Face Oil contains rosehip oil for all those incredible skin benefits you learned above, as well as anti-bacterial Black Cumin to target acne and Blue Tansy to calm and soothe any irritation. Because clear, calm skin is what you deserve in 2021.

Such a good idea to blend Rosehip oil like you do. I’ve known many people use Rosehip neat on their face and then wonder why their skin feels so tight. Blending it with Black Cumin Oil is a stroke of genius!
